Updates from our first Book Design workshop
The latest arrival in the studio this week of the a copy of Paul Carran’s novel Claws of the Dragon, reminded us of the fine collection of titles that have now emerged following our first Book Design workshop. Held in late March we had a small and very enthusiastic bunch of budding authors, all with projects they had been working on, and all keen to find out more about how to get their book looking good and in print.
A diverse collection of books are now available, and each author can rightly be proud of what they have produced. They all look good. . . with varying levels of help from the team here!
Claws of the Dragon
A gripping geopolitical sci-fi fantasy thriller is the first action-packed novel from film producer Paul Carran.
We helped Paul find an editor, worked with an illustrator on the cover, designed the cover and internals for the print book, designed Pauls website, produced the ebook and helped with marketing material.
The print book is available directly from Paul at a special introductory price
through his website

Trip ‘n Die
Meg Frith’s chick lit novel is the perfect way to occupy your time while you’re trying to give up wine and chocolate. It’s a journey through strengths, weaknesses and comical crises, but oh, what a journey it turns out to be . . . for everyone.
We designed the cover for the print book which is available now through Meg’s website

Walter’s Story
Walter’s Story by Claire Bunt is an exciting new historical novel suitable for 9-99 years of age. Walter, born post World War Two, grew up and was educated in the east side of a divided Germany, the German Democratic Republic. Would his indoctrination and love of all things Russian, (the result of his schooling), threaten to jeopardise his family’s bid to escape to the Federal Republic of Germany, in the west.
We designed the cover and internals for Claire, produced the print and the ebook and we are currently working on her website and next book.
The print version of Walter’s story is available directly from Claire

and the Future of New Zealand
This timely book by Chris Nobbs lays bare the failures of the free market economics and its associated political doctrine of ‘neoliberalism’ which, the author claims, have been very damaging to New Zealand over the past three decades.
We designed the cover and internals for Chris, produced the print and the ebook and helped with some marketing material.
The print book is available from Nationwide Book Distributors Ltd
